Job Overview:
A seafood clerk has these primary functions: 1) providing customer service, 2) assisting with food/product preparation and displays, 3) maintaining and cleaning work areas.
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Giving prompt, courteous customer service. Activities include recommending specials and promotions, giving accurate price information, taking orders, accurately weighing requested amounts, wrapping and price marking purchases.
Taking complete telephone orders. This involves working knowledge of department policies and procedures, product varieties, prices, specials, and promotions.
Adhering to weights and measures standards and health department safety and sanitation regulations. This involves a working knowledge of weights and measures standards and health department safety and sanitation regulations.
Understanding and applying store procedures, standards, and regulations.
responding quickly and courteously and giving clear answers to customer inquiries, requests and complaints. This requires knowledge of products, prices, specials, promotions, departments, and store product location.
Assisting department manager as instructed.
Keeping case displays and bins filled and attractively arranged. This involves a working knowledge of product preparation and display procedures, constant exposure to cold, damp conditions.
Stocking sufficient packaging and pricing supplies, labeling and displaying price tags and price checking.
Assisting in preparation of special requests. This involves bending, reaching, and lifting items up to 20 lbs. for long periods of time and working knowledge of product preparation and quality control/appearance standards.
Adhering to weights and measures standards and health department safety and sanitation regulations. This involves working knowledge of weights and measures standards and health department safety and sanitation regulations.
Wrapping and storing products, checking temperatures, rotating/removing products to assure freshness. performing routine daily clean-up of work areas, counters, bins, display cases, special cleaning of tools/equipment including breakdown and reassemble, when necessary, adhering to health departments safety and sanitation regulations for equipment, tools, work and display areas.
Checking coolers and bins for appropriate temperatures and assisting in receiving and arranging back room stock.
Understanding and applying store procedures, standards, and regulations.
Retrieving shopping carts from parking lots.
Performing inventory counts.
Cleaning other assigned areas.
Re-pricing shelved or stock item
Miscellaneous cleaning
Other duties as assigned by your supervisor
Frequent bending, reaching, carrying, climbing, pulling, pushing, lifting up to 50lbs. while working in hot or cold, damp areas for long periods of time and also involves standing for long periods of time and walking great distances.
Understanding and applying standards, written orders, receiving, stocking, labeling policies and procedures, product location and arrangement standards as well as cleaning policies and procedures.
Working quickly and efficiently to maintain established department productivity guidelines. Following oral and written instructions while adhering to standards and attending to details.
Job Requirements:
Initiative and enthusiasm to cope with changing circumstances and workloads under pressure.
Ability to interface well with all departments of the company and to represent company and department in a highly professional manner.
Work independently receiving a minimum of detailed supervision or guidance.
Multi-task oriented.
