Services will normally be performed on a rotating basis for all shifts (Day/Night/Weekend/Holiday) as indicated. The Portsmouth Naval Medical Center Radiology Department provides services 24 hours a day, 365 days per year including holidays. The standard shift schedule is an 8.5 hour shift from 0630 - 1500 Sun - Sat (Day), 1430 - 2300 Sun - Sat (Evening) 2330 - 0700 Sun - Sat (Night).
The ideal CT Technologist will:
Perform computerized axial tomography scans of the head, body and extremities as well as more complex which include dedicated phasic organ studies, coronary CTA (Computed Tomography Angiography), perfusion, vascular CTA, multiplanar and 3D volume renderings, and portable head CTs for critical patients.
Evaluate patients for contrast compatibility: renal function, allergy history, contrasts contraindications. Ensure patients are properly prepped with required contrast agents (oral, IV, rectal), NPO status, and appropriate TV access per established CT protocols.
Provide direct assistance and scans for invasive procedures including drainages, biopsies, radio frequency ablations, and cryoablations.
The ideal CT Technologist must:
Possess work experience of at least 12 continuous months within the preceding 24 months as a full-time CT technologist, to include experience with digital imaging and electronic Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
Be a graduate from a radiography program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiological Education (JCERT).
Possess current post-primary certification as a CT Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Possess current BLS certification
Be a U.S. Citizen
Provide two letters of recommendation from practicing physicians or hospital administrators. The letters shall attest to your clinical skills, productivity, knowledge base, and rapport with co-workers and supervisors, and shall include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of individual providing reference. Letters shall have been written within the last 2 years. A minimum of one letter shall be from a supervisor.
