ACT NOW Portsmouth Position Objective:
To reduce violence in Portsmouth by:
1.
Leading recruitment, enrollment, and follow-up communication between staff, clients, and prospective clients.
2.
Helping ACT NOW Portsmouth clients and their families move toward positive and productive lives free of violence by providing access to educational, vocational, career, and health services and resources.
3.
Promoting non-violence.

DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Enrolling target youth and families in ACT NOW Safe and Successful Youth Initiative.
Develop collaborative relationships with law enforcement partners to identify high-impact youth and prioritize those to be recruited in the ACT NOW Safe and Successful Youth Initiative.
Develop positive and supportive relationships with residents and community groups.
Help individuals deal with stressful events or situations without violence.
Model effective and positive attitudes and choices.
Promote peace.
Celebrate successes, no matter how small.
Encourage healthy lifestyles and choices.
Mediate conflicts between individuals and/or groups Prevent larger-scale events or retaliatory violence before it occurs.
Use data to inform all decisions.
Attend weekly staff meetings.
Submit all required documents/reports as scheduled.
Keep a daily log documenting all activities.
Other duties as assigned.
Accountability:
The ACT NOW Portsmouth Peace Advocate reports to the Executive Director of Friends of the Portsmouth Juvenile Court, Inc.
Compensation:
The ACT NOW Portsmouth Peace Advocate is a 25-hour-per-week position at $26.
40 per hour.
This position is grant funded, as such, should funding be exhausted or not available, Friends of the Portsmouth Juvenile Court is under no obligation to continue the agreement.
