49 an hour 2 days ago 2 days ago 2 days ago General Statement of the Job & Essential Functions GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB Under limited supervision, assists with the implementation of recreational activities and with the supervision of the overall summer camp recreational programming efforts of the department.
Responsible for supervising youth in a daily summer recreation program for youth ages 5 - 12, assisting with special events, and/or assisting with park programs.
Reports to the Recreation Aide II or Recreation Program Specialist.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Assists in the implementation of recreational activities and events.
Assists with setting up equipment for planned activities.
Leads participants in program activities, such as games, arts and crafts, storytelling, films, field trips etc.
Introduces the planned activity and explains any rules or safety related issues.
Keeps score for games.
Monitors participants to ensure safe, and pleasant participation.
Tries to ensure all participants are given equal opportunities to participate.
Reports all safety hazards to appropriate supervisor.
Assists with the maintenance of recreation equipment by monitoring equipment use and ensuring participants don't abuse the equipment; and by returning equipment and supplies upon completion of the activity.
Completes attendance records of assigned activities.
Completes incident and accident reports with primary witness.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS As needed, may supervise the activities of a designated recreational area or group.
Performs other related work as required.

8 Education, Experience & Special Requirements MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Applicants need to be at least 16 years old and eligible to work in the United States.
Some experience leading participants in a recreational or day care environment, or babysitting is preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
An acceptable general background check to include a local and state criminal history check and sex offender registry check.
Individuals in this position cannot be listed as having a founded child abuse or neglect complaint.
Physical Demands MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to use and demonstrate the use of a variety of recreational equipment and to demonstrate considerable movement and flexibility in the implementation of program activities.
Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work.
Physical Demand requirements are for Light Work.
